Great achievement in academic career means great accomplishment in knowledge

Great achievement in academic career means great accomplishment in knowledge, ability and general quality.

Confucius said: “At fifteen, I had my mind bent on learning. At thirty, I stood firm. At forty, I had no doubts. At fifty, I knew the decrees of Heaven. At sixty, my ear was an obedient organ for the reception of truth. At seventy, I could follow what my heart desired, without transgressing what was right.” Everything goes up along with the growth of age, scaling constantly towards the supreme prospect. Of course, the relationship between age and quality is not absolutely proportional, however, through continual learning and continual training, age will be certainly proportional to the level of ability and overall quality. Marx says: Time is the domain for ability and all development. Generally speaking, the longer the life is, the more possible it is to raise the general quality, thus, the more probable it is to have great achievements. Even a mahatma like Confucius was so: he could reach the level of doing things freely without going against the rule only when he reached the age of seventy.

Judging from another point of view, it is also a very inspiring fact. At seventy, Confucius could follow what his heart desired, without transgressing what was right, then, if we train ourselves for another two, three or more “seventy years”, will everyone be able to become a mahatma? Will everyone be able to reach the level of “following what his heart desires, without transgressing what is right”? If we can live healthily to be 200 years, 500 years, or 1200 years old,do we need to worry we cannot get 5 doctoral degree, 10 doctoral degrees, or even 20 doctoral degrees?!
