Shoe shopping isn’t usually an altruistic pastime. But in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, QVC, the popular television shopping network, is selling shoes at half price, with the proceeds benefiting breast cancer research and education.
QVC has joined forces with the Fashion Footwear Association of New York (FFANY) to hold their annual charitable shoe sale for breast cancer research.
The program, set to air from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and is a partnership between QVC and the Fashion Footwear Association of New York.
More than 100,000 pairs of shoes from nearly 100 brands will be sold for half price on the show. Anne Klein, Via Spiga, Coach Footwear, Nine West and many others have donated shoes to the program.
QVC says “FFANY Shoes on Sale” has sold more than 100,000 pairs of shoes and donated more than $28 million to breast cancer research over the past 14 years.
The National Cancer Institute estimates 185,000 Americans will develop breast cancer this year. Funds raised from the event will benefit institutions such as the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in New York and the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania.
Philanthropic shoppers can also buy the “Shoe of the Day” offered online.
